So, when it comes to shopping locally on Central Vancouver Island, there are so many great reasons to do it. First off, by supporting local businesses, you're helping to boost the local economy and create jobs for people in your community. Plus, you'll find some amazing products that you won't find anywhere else!
 
Now, let's talk about the best places to shop locally on Central Vancouver Island. One popular spot is the Nanaimo Farmers Market, where you can find fresh produce, handmade crafts, and delicious treats. There is one located at Beban Park Wednesday 3:00 to 6:00pm located across from the fair grounds. Prince Acre farmers market is open Wednesday as well 10:00 to 2:00 in Lantzville across from the Winchelsea Golf Course. Cedar has a Sunday market 10:00 to 2:00 located at 1984 Woobank. Duncan hosts a farmers market 10:00 to 2:00 Saturdays at 200 Craig Street. Qualicum Beach Summers
Market is May until October Saturdays beginning at 8:30am. Parksville shuts down the entire downtown block for one big farmers market for Summer by the sea Tuesday 6:00 to 9:00pm. Basically you could spend every day at a farmers market somewhere centrally On the Island. 
 
Another great option for local shopping is the Old City Quarter in Nanaimo, which is filled with unique boutiques and shops offering everything from clothing to home decor. There is a refill store Vancouver Island Refillery, Aura Arcana Well Being is just around the corner for anyone interested in crystals , essential oils, tarot cards and more.. 
 
Guava is locally owned and operated located off Commercial street, which is a funky boutique style shop. All hand selected by the owner for your shopping needs. 
If you like vintage or thrifted Funk Revial is just up the street. Needing a pair of panties or a bra we go you with My Undies Langerie and Gifts as well on commercial street. 
Or perhaps looking for something for your home, check out flying fish also you guessed it on commercial street. The Downtown core has many locally owned , operated and created businesses. 
 
Island ish located on Rutherford road has everything you could possibly need for that island living and loving person in your life ! 



 
If you're looking for local artisans and artists, the Cedar Yellow Point Artisans Association hosts an annual studio tour where you can visit their studios and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces. And don't forget about the local breweries and wineries in the area, like the Longwood Brewery and the Blue Grouse Estate Winery, where you can sample and purchase locally crafted beverages.
